While we might see them as exotic, kangaroos are pretty much viewed as pests in Australia. To quote the New South Wales’ Farmers Association, “Kangaroos decimate crops, compete with livestock for pasture and cause havoc on the roads, sometimes breaking down fences allowing livestock to escape onto highways. They tangle wires, rendering electric fences useless.”
